1. About this policy

In this policy, “I”, “me” and “my” mean Sleep by Steph Pty Ltd, ABN 37 644 582 196, which is run by Steph Gouin. I respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information I collect, why, how I use it and who I share it with. It covers my website, www.sleepbysteph.com.au (the “Website”), my social media pages, and my services. I follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By using my Website or buying from me, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

2. What I collect

Contact and account details: your name, email address, phone number and, for in-home visits, your home address.
Booking and payment details: what you buy or book, and the date. Payments are processed by my payment provider. I do not store your full card details.
Information you give me in questionnaires, calls, texts, emails and visits, including information about your baby or child (see section 4).
Messages and notes: emails, text messages and notes from my calls and visits.
Photos, videos and testimonials, but only with your permission.
Website and device information: your IP address, browser, device, the pages you visit and how you got to my Website.
Your interactions with my social media pages and emails, such as comments, messages and email opens and clicks.

3. Why I collect and use it

To provide my products and services, including giving you personalised advice.
To take payments, process orders and send confirmations, receipts and access to your purchases.
To answer your questions and look after you.
With your consent, to send you updates and offers. You can opt out at any time.
To improve my Website, products and services, and to understand how people find me.
To meet my legal and tax obligations and to protect my rights.

4. Information about your child and your health

To give you personalised advice, I ask about your child’s sleep, feeding, development and health, and sometimes about your own circumstances. This is sensitive information.

I only collect it with your consent, and only because it is needed to provide my services.
I use it only to give you advice and support. I do not use it for marketing or advertising.
I keep it confidential and only share it with the platforms and contractors listed in section 5, and only when they need it to help me provide the service.
Please do not send health details about your child through Instagram or Facebook messages. Use your questionnaire or email instead.
I collect information about children from their parents or guardians, not from children. My Website is for adults aged 18 or over.

5. Who handles your information

I do not sell your personal information. To run the business, your information is stored in or passes through:

Tools I use to run the business, which handle it on my behalf: Acuity Scheduling (bookings and questionnaires: WooCommerce (my online shop and checkout), LearnDash (the Foundations First™ course), Flowdesk (my email newsletters and updates), my website host (WordPress), and my payment providers Stripe / PayPal.
Instagram, Facebook and ManyChat, when you message me or interact with me on social media. These platforms may use your information under their own privacy policies.
Contractors who help with the business, such as my web developer and administration support. They only access information when they need to, and they must keep it confidential.
My accountant, bookkeeper and other professional advisers.
Authorities, where the law requires or allows me to.
A buyer or successor, if my business is ever sold or transferred.

6. Cookies, tracking and advertising

My Website uses cookies, which are small files stored on your device. They help the Website work, remember your preferences and see how it is used.
I use Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel [confirm with your developer]. These collect information such as the pages you view and your device. I use them to understand how people use my Website and to show my ads to people who may be interested.
I do not send questionnaire answers or health information to these tools.
You can turn off cookies in your browser settings or change your ad preferences in your Facebook and Google settings. Some parts of the Website may not work properly if you do.

7. Overseas providers

Some of the tools and platforms I use store information on servers outside Australia. I take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it appropriately.

8. Marketing and opting out

I only send you marketing emails or texts if you have agreed to it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can reply STOP to marketing texts.
Opting out of marketing does not stop messages about something you have bought or booked.

9. Security and how long I keep your information

I take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure, so please take care with what you send me.
I keep your information for as long as I need it to provide my services and meet my legal and tax obligations, which is usually about 7 years. I then delete or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, I will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as required by law.

10. Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email info@sleepbysteph.com.au with “Privacy request” in the subject line. I will respond within 30 days. I may need to keep some information to meet legal obligations, and I will tell you if I cannot give you access to something and why.

My Website links to other websites. I am not responsible for their content or how they handle your information. Please read their privacy policies.

12. Complaints

If you have a concern about how I handle your information, email info@sleepbysteph.com.au. I will acknowledge it within 2 business days and respond in writing as soon as I can. If you are not happy with my response, you can contact the OAIC at www.oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date at the top.
